Telephony & VoIP Installation for Local Authority
The Objective
A Local Authority Council wanted to install a new VoIP solution that would reduce costs and improve efficiency across all its sites and selected ASH to supply the system as a direct result of its expertise in this area. We were initially engaged at start-up stage to compare operational and financial benefits between legacy Voice systems and a new IP Telephony system using the existing data network already in place. We supported the council through feasibility study and business case through to implementation.
The Solution
Replace all the legacy PABX systems throughout the Council in to a new Networked Telephony Solution. The system would connect to all Sites through the existing Data Network; wireless building to building bridges for the closer sites with leased lines for distant sites to the VoIP hardware mounted in the IT Rack at the Councils Head Quarters. The system was designed to be completely scalable so that new users or applications could quickly and easily be incorporated, enabling the council to support it's growing network at minimal cost.
The Result
Employees can now share applications over the network which has made the Council's operation more efficient. An effective IP telephony solution is based on an open, standards-based architecture that enables companies to keep infrastructure expenses in control. Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) benefits include equipment, long distance telecommunication costs, administration, upgrades, expansion, and other expenses such as adding users and applications. The customer realised a benefit of more than 25% operational expenditure within the first 12 months.
